Rookie actor Lee Sun has been cast in tvN's highly anticipated second-half drama "100 Days of Lies."
His agency, Management Sisun, said on the 17th that Lee had been cast as Lee Young-bok in the series, adding that it hoped viewers would take interest in the actor's work as he makes his mark on television.
"100 Days of Lies" is a 100-day espionage romance about Gyeongseong's top pickpocket, who becomes a spy, and an elite interpreter for the Japanese Government-General of Korea, who come face to face at the heart of enemy territory. The series drew attention as an anticipated title as soon as production was announced. With interpretation — a craft of reading what lies between words — as its subject and a spy planted directly by the independence army as its premise, the drama is set to unfold an unpredictable story.
Lee plays Lee Young-bok, a member of the anti-Japanese organization Gugukdan. Young-bok is the secretary to Kim Seung-eok (Lee Ki-young), president of Joil Textiles, and the closest protector of Kim Myung-nam (Park Jung-yeon), a fellow Gugukdan member. He is a man of few words and blunt in manner, but shows his sincerity through actions rather than speech. Lee will bring out the character's appeal, from Young-bok's reserved and serious nature to the youthful side he reveals in front of Myung-nam.
Lee is a newcomer who draws attention with his tall build and sharply defined features. The calm presence in his gaze into the camera closely matches Young-bok, raising expectations among viewers. As this marks his first television drama, attention is turning to the impression Lee will leave through "100 Days of Lies" as he meets viewers in earnest.
Meanwhile, tvN's "100 Days of Lies" premieres next month on the 10th, a Saturday, at 9:10 p.m.
