LG Chem (051910.KS) is launching a new Eutropin growth hormone product designed to improve self-injection convenience. The company announced Tuesday the release of "Eutropin EcoPen48 (injection device)," the brand's first cartridge-replaceable product set, along with "Eutropin Cartridge Injection 48IU," a dedicated injection solution for the EcoPen.
Unlike existing integrated cartridge products, the EcoPen is designed to allow users to attach and replace the dedicated "Eutropin Cartridge Injection 48IU" with the syringe, enabling repeated use of the pen device.
An LG Chem official said the company upgraded the pen syringe in partnership with Ypsomed, a Swiss drug delivery device maker, to reduce the psychological and physical burden of long-term repeated injections. The device uses a spring-driven semi-automatic injection system rather than relying on hand pressure, allowing even children to easily administer self-injection treatment. The product also features 48IU capacity, the largest among growth hormone products in Korea, extending the cartridge replacement cycle. The injection button length is fixed at 3 mm regardless of dosage, maintaining consistently low injection pressure.
Considering that the syringe is used multiple times, the body is made of metal rather than plastic. For the final dose of a cartridge, the injection volume cannot be set higher than the remaining amount. The device also features a "winding sound that activates during injection" and a "real-time remaining volume check function" for added user convenience.
"As the No. 1 growth hormone brand, we have been conducting a large-scale long-term observational study of Eutropin in Korean pediatric patients since 2012," said Kim Sung-ho, head of LG Chem's Specialty Care Division. "We will systematically build data from real treatment environments to present optimal treatment options, while also providing an easy and comfortable injection environment to serve as a strong support for children with short stature."
