Korea Electric Power Corp. (KEPCO) has appointed Kim Tae-ok, former head of its Power Grid Division, as standing audit committee member. The standing auditor oversees KEPCO's management, finances and internal controls, and is regarded as the "number two" position at public institutions, after the chief executive.
KEPCO said on the 21st that it completed the appointment of Kim as standing audit committee member at an extraordinary shareholders' meeting held at its headquarters in Naju, South Jeolla Province. Born in 1962, Kim graduated from Yeongdeungpo High School in Seoul and the Department of Electrical Engineering at Ajou University before joining KEPCO. Over 35 years as a "KEPCO man," he held key positions including head of the Grid Planning Office, head of the Technology Planning Department, head of the Gwangju-Jeonnam Regional Office, and head of the Power Grid Division. After retirement, he served as cooperative vice president of the Korean Institute of Electrical Engineers from 2024. The standing auditor's term is three years.
A KEPCO official said, "The new audit committee member is expected to contribute to preemptively resolving the company's risks based on his broad understanding of the national power grid construction plan and operations — a pressing issue for KEPCO — and his diverse work experience."
