E-mart will offer two types of sanitary pads with 100% cotton covers at "99 won per pad," the retailer said Tuesday.
In collaboration with LG Household & Health Care's brand "Sofy," E-mart prepared two products — "Sofy Real Cotton Medium 40P" and "Sofy Real Cotton Large 36P" — at 3,950 won per pack. The products go on sale at all E-mart stores that day.
The medium size comes in packs of 40, putting each 100% cotton-cover pad at 99 won, while the large size comes in packs of 36 at 109 won per pad. That is about one-fourth the price of the regular cotton sanitary pads previously sold at E-mart.
Despite the lower price, high quality was maintained. The products use cotton covers and are made 2 centimeters longer than typical winged sanitary pads. They also obtained certification from the German dermatological research institute "Dermatest."
E-mart is also running discount promotions on other sanitary pad products. From Tuesday through Friday, 20 types of wearable overnight sanitary pads — including "Sofy Comfort Sleep Panty Unbleached Medium, Large 8P," normally priced at 16,900 won — will be sold at a flat price of 7,000 won when paid with a promotional card. In addition, until the 15th of this month, products such as "Good Feel Organic 100% Cotton Airy Medium 36p" will be offered at a 50% discount.
"Sanitary pads are a daily necessity, and price stability is a very important factor for stabilizing consumer prices," said Kwon Hyun-joo, home care category manager at E-mart. "We will continue to work to provide more benefits to customers who visit E-mart."
