Lotte Engineering & Construction and Hyundai Engineering & Construction (000720) have jointly won a 1.4 trillion won ($1 billion) public redevelopment project in the Chunghunbu district of Anyang, Gyeonggi Province.
The consortium was selected as the contractor for the Chunghunbu public redevelopment project at a the redevelopment association's general assembly of members held the previous day at the main auditorium of Anyang City Hall in the city's Dongan district, according to the construction industry on the 30th.
The project site is located around 768-6 Chunghun-dong in Anyang's Manan district. The redevelopment will produce 19 buildings ranging from four basement levels to a maximum of 49 stories above ground, comprising 3,856 apartment units along with support and welfare facilities. The estimated construction cost is about 1.4278 trillion won.
The consortium proposed "TRE VISTA" as the name for the new complex, combining the Italian word "tre," meaning the number three, with "vista," meaning view. The plan aims to develop the site into a landmark complex representing the area by capitalizing on views spanning the Anyangcheon stream, Mount Surisan and the city center.
The site offers strong access to green space, with Chunghun Park and Anyang Saemul Park nearby. Schools in the vicinity include Seoksu Elementary School, Anyang Middle School and Chunghun High School. The area is also close to wide-area transport links including Gwangmyeong Station, which serves Seoul Subway Line 1 and KTX trains, and the Gwangmyeong Intercity Bus Terminal.
Lotte and Hyundai also proposed a design featuring differentiated landscaping and community facilities. Plans include sunken gardens and a large plaza within the complex, along with a themed walking trail about 4.5 kilometers long. Green space and rest areas will be distributed throughout the complex, and a sky lounge will be installed at the 32nd floor to offer views of the surrounding scenery.
The contract marks Lotte Engineering & Construction's first entry into the public redevelopment market. The builder plans to expand its public redevelopment portfolio with a dedicated team, targeting projects such as a mixed-use public housing development near Yaksu Station in Seoul and the Myeonmok District 9 public redevelopment project. "We brought together the construction experience and technical capabilities of both companies to prepare a specialized design," a Lotte Engineering & Construction official said. "Through close collaboration, we will develop this into a large-scale landmark complex representing Anyang."
