CJ CheilJedang (097950) is setting up a technical support base for seasoning ingredients in Singapore as it moves to expand its business-to-business market across the Asia-Pacific region.
The company said on the 7th that it opened a Global Technical Center at the Biopolis research complex in Singapore on the 1st of this month. It is the company's fourth overseas technical support base, following facilities in South Korea, Chicago and Wageningen, the Netherlands.
The center will develop and commercialize technology that applies CJ CheilJedang's seasoning ingredients to client products to achieve the taste and flavor profiles they want. It will use the company's own seasoning ingredients, including TasteNrich, CJ TIDE and Addme Nucleotide Solution, to provide solutions tailored to each client's product characteristics.
Through the Singapore center, CJ CheilJedang plans to work with local clients from the product development stage, offering customized application technology and supporting them through to commercial launch. The strategy is to broaden its business from simply selling raw materials to providing technical solutions, securing a longer-term customer base.
The company will focus in particular on expanding partnerships with food manufacturers in nearby countries around TasteNrich, its premium seasoning ingredient. TasteNrich is made by fermenting naturally derived raw materials such as sugar cane, and is used to cut sodium and other additives while maintaining a product's taste.
"Building on the Singapore Global Technical Center, we will strengthen collaboration with clients across the Asia-Pacific region," an official at CJ CheilJedang said. "We will use our differentiated technology and product capabilities to provide solutions that address both health and taste."
