Samsung Electronics Service and LG Electronics will operate repair and consultation services through the Chuseok holiday to handle emergencies such as refrigerator breakdowns, water leaks, fires and electric shocks. With service center operations limited during the holiday, the companies plan to minimize customer inconvenience through on-call staffing and emergency dispatch services.
Samsung Electronics Service will run its contact center consultants and field service engineers on an emergency on-call system during the Chuseok holiday, industry sources said on Sept. 23. The company will provide an emergency dispatch service for cases requiring urgent inspection.
Service centers will be closed on Sept. 24, the first day of the holiday, and on Sept. 25, the Chuseok holiday itself, but nine weekend care centers nationwide will open on Sept. 26 and 27. Customers can book appointments in advance for inspection and repair of mobile phones, tablets and wearable devices.
The nine weekend care centers are located in Samsung Gangnam and Hongdae in Seoul, Jung-dong in Bucheon, Seongnam, Guseong in Yongin, Daejeon, Gwangsan in Gwangju, Nam-Daegu and Dongnae in Busan. Eleven Baro Service outlets inside Samsung Store locations will also offer basic smartphone checkups and screen protector application during the same period.
LG Electronics will likewise maintain an emergency service response system through the holiday. For urgent safety-related issues such as water leaks, fires and electric shocks, the company will provide 24-hour live consultation and repair dispatch services as it does normally.
Both companies will continue offering self-diagnosis support so customers can resolve problems without visiting a service center. Samsung Electronics Service provides product-specific self-diagnosis guides, frequently asked questions and self-service instructions on its website, and also runs an artificial intelligence chatbot service.
LG Electronics will keep an AI chatbot running at all times on its service website during the holiday and provide maintenance tips and self-service instructions based on symptoms for each product.
