The company said on the 29th that it will supply about 290 billion won ($210 million) worth of MLCCs and inductors for AI servers to a major global company. The supply period runs for one year, from January to December next year. It is the fifth long-term agreement (LTA) disclosed this year, bringing the total value of this year's long-term supply deals for AI-related components, including this contract, to 3.6 trillion won.
MLCCs are key components that store electricity inside electronic products and release it as needed, stabilizing current and voltage. Inductors also stabilize power supply and reduce noise generated during power conversion. AI servers consume more power than conventional servers and must run around the clock, requiring high-capacity, high-reliability components.
Samsung Electro-Mechanics has been rapidly expanding its long-term supply contracts for AI components. In early September, it signed a 1.0722 trillion won contract with a major global company to supply MLCCs for AI servers, and it is in talks with global companies on additional long-term MLCC supply agreements.
"As technology in the AI market advances, the performance and reliability required of MLCCs are also rising," a Samsung Electro-Mechanics official said. "Based on our differentiated technology and stable supply capabilities, we are expanding cooperation with global customers."
