The stocks most heavily bought by high-return investors trading through Mirae Asset Securities on the morning of the 1st were Doosan, EO Technics and SK hynix, in that order.
According to Mirae Asset Securities, the top net purchase by "super traders" — clients ranking in the top 1% by investment return over the past month — was Doosan as of 11 a.m. that day. Expectations of record quarterly earnings at its Electro-Materials BG and of expanded production capacity for artificial intelligence chip materials appear to have fueled investor sentiment.
Doosan traded at 1.379 million won as of 11 a.m., up 0.80% from the previous session. Meritz Securities projected that day that third-quarter revenue and operating profit at Doosan's Electro-Materials BG would rise 72.0% and 117.8% from a year earlier to 756.7 billion won and 226.3 billion won, respectively, on expanding sales to Nvidia. Pointing also to earnings growth in 2028 as capacity additions take full effect, the brokerage maintained a "buy" rating and a fair value of 2.4 million won. "If visibility on 2028 earnings improves and the market begins to raise its earnings expectations in earnest, room for further share gains will widen," Meritz Securities analyst Yang Seung-soo said.
Second in net buying was EO Technics, a maker of semiconductor laser equipment. Its shares stood at 545,000 won at the same hour, up 4.81% from the previous session. Expectations of stronger equipment demand as global chipmakers shift to advanced processes and expand production facilities have drawn attention. "Equipment stocks expected to benefit from the global shift to leading-edge processes and expanded capacity investment are continuing their rally," Mirae Asset Securities analyst Kim Ju-yeon said.
Third was SK hynix, trading at 1.778 million won, up 0.11% from the previous session. U.S. memory maker Micron posted strong results overnight, but Korea's top chip stock was fluctuating near flat. Micron's revenue for June through August, its fiscal fourth quarter, hit a record $54.23 billion (about 73.5 trillion won), roughly five times the figure a year earlier.
The most heavily sold stocks that day were Samsung Electro-Mechanics, LG Innotek and CS Wind, in that order. In the previous session, net buying was led by Samsung Electronics preferred shares, SK hynix and Doosan Enerbility. Hanwha Solutions, Samsung Electronics and Foosung topped net selling.
Mirae Asset Securities compiles the trades of clients ranking in the top 1% by return over the past month on a real-time, previous-day and five-day basis, and discloses them through its mobile trading system. The data is simple information unrelated to the brokerage's own views and does not guarantee investments suitable for individual investors or the achievement of returns. Investors should also be mindful of the potential for sharp swings in theme-related stocks.
