WASHINGTON — With 53 days left before the U.S. midterm elections, a super PAC aligned with President Donald Trump has committed $47.4 million (about 63.5 billion won) to seven battleground races, The New York Times reported on the 9th, citing multiple sources.
The group, No Going Back PAC Inc., was set up on the 1st of this month by Charles Gant, a Republican political operative, and signed $47.4 million in advertising contracts over two days on the 8th and 9th, according to the report. Gant has routinely handled paperwork for Trump-affiliated organizations, including Maga Inc., the president's flagship super PAC. No Going Back is said to be funded by Maga Inc. The money is going to six Senate battlegrounds — New Hampshire, Alaska, Michigan, Ohio, North Carolina and Georgia — and to Pennsylvania's 10th Congressional District, a closely contested House race.
The Times said Trump has finally begun tapping in earnest the $400 million war chest held by his super PAC to help Republicans in the midterms. Maga Inc. had been sparing with midterm spending until now. But on the 5th it opened its wallet for the first time in the general-election phase of the midterms, sending $10 million to the Texas Senate race, where Republican candidate Ken Paxton has been struggling to keep pace financially with Democratic candidate James Talarico.
