Singer and producer MC Mong spoke publicly for the first time after actor and singer Kim Min-jong filed a criminal defamation complaint against him.
MC Mong appeared in a joint TikTok live broadcast with other online streamers on the 2nd.
When one of the streamers noted that he was going through a difficult time, MC Mong replied that being the target of a complaint was nothing new to him and dismissed it as no big deal.
He added that he had been the subject of two complaints in the past and had been cleared of wrongdoing in both cases.
Asked about his birthday, MC Mong said he would not hold a party and suggested going to a nightclub instead.
Kim filed the complaint with Seoul's Jongno Police Station on the 1st, accusing MC Mong of defamation through the spread of false information.
In an online live broadcast on May 18, MC Mong alleged that Kim had been involved in illegal gambling, accepting money and favors, and buying off witnesses.
Kim has denied the allegations and had signaled that he would take legal action. O'Kims, the law firm representing Kim, said MC Mong's claims damaged the reputation and trust Kim had built since his debut in 1988.
The firm also said the remarks caused concrete harm, including the suspension of talks on a role in an upcoming Hollywood production and two separate contracts that were under negotiation at the time. Kim's side said it plans to pursue additional legal measures, including a civil claim for damages.
