Ballerina Yoon Hye-jin, the wife of actor Uhm Tae-woong, has publicly criticized false advertisements that used images of her daughter.
Yoon posted screenshots of several advertising posts featuring photos and videos of her daughter, Uhm Ji-on, on her Instagram Stories on the 15th.
The posts carried phrases such as "This is what grew Yoon Hye-jin's daughter to 178 centimeters" and "This is what Yoon Hye-jin stocked up on every day at OO."
"Yoon Hye-jin's daughter did not grow by eating this, and when did I ever stock up on this every day at OO?" Yoon wrote. "I just gave her tofu instead of rice once in a while when she said she was on a diet. You cannot take someone else's video without permission and attach a purchase link like this to sell products." She added: "People who are desperate for their children to grow taller would all be taken in by this. Isn't this fraud? Ji-on did not grow tall from eating tofu. It's genetics."
One image showing Uhm Ji-on walking with her father, Uhm Tae-woong, was circulated with captions such as "The secret behind Yoon Hye-jin's 13-year-old daughter reaching 178 centimeters" and "She puts it in kimchi fried rice, no exceptions!" — promoting a specific food product as if it had contributed to the child's growth. "They even ran the photo through AI," Yoon said in frustration. "It's not true, there's no secret formula, don't be fooled. The comments have passed 9,000."
Yoon also revealed that similar advertisements were spreading across multiple accounts. "It's going viral all over the place like this," she wrote, denying the claims again: "It's not true!" On another post, she urged caution, writing, "There's more than one or two of them. I hope no one is harmed by these false ads."
Earlier this month, Yoon had shared a photo of Uhm Ji-on and disclosed that she stands 178 centimeters tall. Uhm Ji-on was born in June 2013 and is currently 13 years old.
Yoon married actor Uhm Tae-woong in 2013 and gave birth to their daughter, Uhm Ji-on, the same year. The couple communicates with fans through the YouTube channel "Yoon Hye-jin's What See TV."
