Actress Park Won-sook spoke about her lingering guilt over the son she lost and described how she now devotes special affection to her granddaughter.
Park appeared on the YouTube channel "Song Seung-hwan's Wonderful Life" in a video released on the 15th, where she spoke candidly about her past and her family.
Recalling the son she lost in a traffic accident in 2003, Park said, "Everything felt meaningless after that," adding, "I still work responsibly, but I ended up stepping 10 paces back."
Park pointed to her failure to give her son enough while he was alive as her deepest regret. "It still hurts that I held back on material support in the name of his education," she said, adding that she now provides for her granddaughter the things she could not give her son.
"My granddaughter did well in school and won a scholarship, but I still covered all of her tuition and school expenses," Park said. "I even bought her an officetel (a studio apartment that can be used as a home or office) in Yongsan and a car." She added, "I support her gladly, because giving while I am alive makes it a gift."
Park lost her only son in an unexpected accident in November 2003. She later lost touch with her granddaughter for a time after her daughter-in-law remarried, but the two reconnected years later and have maintained a close relationship since.
