Comedian Ji Sang-ryul said he is comfortable with talk of marrying his girlfriend, show host Shin Bo-ram, who is 16 years younger, but that the speculation makes her uneasy.
Ji appeared on the YouTube channel "Yangrak 1st District" on the 16th, sharing drinks with fellow comedians including Choi Yang-rak, Kwon Jae-kwan and Kim Seung-jin.
During the show, Choi asked about Ji's relationship with Shin, saying, "I recently read an article saying that if things work out with Bo-ram, you might move to Seoul."
Ji answered cautiously. "Someone has come along who could make me move," he said. "But people are reacting as if a wedding is imminent, and while I'm fine with it, Bo-ram finds it a bit of a burden."
Choi said the issue can be a sensitive one for the woman and brought up his own experience. He recalled being caught off guard when reports of his romance with Paeng Hyun-sook surfaced before the two had even decided to marry.
Choi then asked, "In your case, can't you and Bo-ram just set a date?" Ji explained, "There's a process on her side too, and there are her parents." He also confirmed the 16-year age gap, saying, "Bo-ram was born in 1986, the year of the tiger, and I was born in the year of the dog."
Ji had been shown developing a budding romance with Shin, a show host and former flight attendant, on KBS 2TV's "Men Who Do Housework" since last year, and disclosed on a broadcast in January that the two had become a couple.
