GYERYONGDAE — President Lee Jae-myung said on the 2nd that his government will keep working patiently to untangle inter-Korean relations, urging North Korea to join efforts to rebuild trust and restore suspended dialogue.
"The knots in inter-Korean relations are complexly entangled, but we will continue to patiently untie them one by one," Lee said. "We expect and urge the North to now join us on the path of restoring trust and reviving severed dialogue."
Lee made the remarks in a commemorative address at the 78th Armed Forces Day ceremony held at Gyeryongdae in South Chungcheong Province.
"The government will consistently continue practical measures to lower military tensions between the two Koreas," he said.
He also offered words of comfort to soldiers injured in a recent incident in the Demilitarized Zone.

"It still pains me to think of the soldiers who were injured in an unexpected accident in the Demilitarized Zone not long ago," Lee said. "It reminds me once again that the ordinary days we enjoy rest on someone else's risk."
He added, "I wish the injured soldiers a speedy recovery, and I extend my sympathy and comfort to their families as well."
