A fire broke out at a plastics processing plant in Paju, Gyeonggi Province, prompting fire authorities to declare a Level 1 response.
The blaze started at the plant in Jori-eup, Paju, fire authorities said on the 20th. It burned four buildings made of sandwich panels before being extinguished about five hours later. No injuries were reported.
Fire authorities issued the Level 1 response because large quantities of flammable materials were stacked inside the plant. They mobilized 26 pieces of equipment and 65 firefighters to fight the fire. The blaze did not spread to surrounding areas after crews brought it under initial control at about 1:34 p.m. that day.
Police and fire authorities are investigating the exact cause of the fire and the scale of property damage.
