
Three men in their 20s have been referred to prosecutors in custody on charges of assaulting a passerby who told them not to urinate in the street, and taking his mobile phone and bag.
Seoul's Yeongdeungpo Police Station said on the 2nd that it had referred the three men, who face charges of robbery resulting in injury, to the Seoul Southern District Public Prosecution Office in custody.
According to police, the three are accused of assaulting a man identified only as B at around 1 a.m. on Sept. 24 in front of a residential area in Daerim-dong, Yeongdeungpo District, Seoul.
B was attacked after pointing out that one of the group was urinating in the street, the investigation found. The men took B's mobile phone and bag to prevent him from calling police, authorities said.
B suffered injuries including a broken nose. His life was not in danger.
Police made emergency arrests of two of the men, while the third turned himself in. Two were placed under arrest on Sept. 26 and the third on Sept. 29.
The three had been drinking at the time of the crime, the investigation found. No evidence was found that they had taken drugs or other substances.
