Ham Ji-hoon, 41, the franchise star of professional basketball's Ulsan Hyundai Mobis who retired after last season, is beginning a second basketball career as a coach at his former team.
The Hyundai Mobis club announced Tuesday that it had appointed Ham Ji-hoon to its new coaching staff.
Coach Ham is a "one-club man" representing Hyundai Mobis. After donning the Hyundai Mobis uniform as the 10th overall pick in the first round of the 2007 rookie draft, he played for just one team for 18 seasons through the 2025-2026 season without a single transfer. He appeared in 858 career games, recording 8,427 points, 4,027 rebounds, and 3,000 assists, serving as a leading big man in the KBL. He contributed to five championship series titles at Hyundai Mobis, and in the 2009-2010 season in particular, he captured both the regular season and playoff Most Valuable Player (MVP) awards.
Coach Ham will assist head coach Yang Dong-geun alongside senior coach Park Gu-young and coach Park Byung-woo. Yang played from 2004 to 2020, and senior coach Park Gu-young played from 2007 to 2018, both as one-club men who spent their entire playing careers at Hyundai Mobis. Legends representing Hyundai Mobis have come together again as coaches.
"It feels fresh to reunite as coaching staff with head coach Yang Dong-geun and coach Park Gu-young, with whom I have been together for nearly 20 years since my playing days," Ham said through the club. "Based on my rich experience, I will become a senior who pours everything I have into my juniors."
