South Korea's women's 3x3 basketball team beat Thailand to claim the country's first Asian Games medal in the discipline.
The team won 21-8 against Thailand in the women's 3x3 basketball bronze-medal match at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, played on a temporary court at the plaza outside Kinjofuto Station in Nagoya, Japan, on the 25th. South Korea reached 21 points in 7 minutes and 36 seconds, ending the game before the full 10 minutes of regulation had elapsed.
The bronze is South Korea's first medal in women's 3x3 basketball at the Asian Games. The discipline has been an official event since the 2018 Jakarta-Palembang Games.
The team, which reached the semifinals for the first time at this year's Games, had lost 8-19 to Japan in a semifinal earlier in the day. Against Thailand, however, it put on a dominant performance. With the score tied 6-6, Heo Yu-jeong of Shinhan Bank broke the deadlock with a two-point shot, and Choi Ye-seul of Samsung Life Insurance then drained three consecutive two-pointers to open a 14-6 lead and seize control of the game.
Choi made four of five two-point attempts — the key weapon in 3x3 basketball — and scored 10 points, the most by any player on either team, making her the decisive contributor to the win. Her two-point shooting accuracy reached 80%. Heo also chipped in seven points on three two-pointers, leading the outside support. Song Yun-ha of KB anchored the paint with four rebounds and one block, while Kim Jung-eun of BNK added two points.
