Apple has rolled out an iOS update to fix a "panic-full" glitch that caused its new iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max models to restart unexpectedly during use.
Apple released iOS 27.0.1 on the 29th, according to industry sources. The update addresses an issue that could cause the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max to restart unexpectedly after a failed Face ID authentication.
Reports had been mounting among iPhone 18 Pro users of devices freezing and then rebooting on their own, a phenomenon known as panic-full. The term refers to a forced reboot triggered by a system error, and comes from the "panic-full" entry left in the device's analytics logs. Users can check whether such logs have been generated under Settings, then Privacy & Security, Analytics & Improvements and Analytics Data.
Some users had recently said their devices suddenly shut down and restarted after Face ID failed to authenticate. Apple said the update fixes the unexpected restarts tied to Face ID authentication failures.
This is not the first time forced reboots have surfaced shortly after a new iPhone launch. The iPhone 16 series, released in 2024, also drew complaints from some users about frozen screens and sudden reboots during use. Apple later fixed those problems through an iOS update.
Meanwhile, retail prices for the iPhone 18 series rose 200,000 won for the 256-gigabyte model from the previous generation, reflecting higher memory chip costs. In South Korea, the iPhone 18 Pro is priced at 1.99 million won for 256 gigabytes, 2.29 million won for 512 gigabytes, 2.89 million won for 1 terabyte and 3.79 million won for 2 terabytes. The iPhone 18 Pro Max is priced at 2.19 million won, 2.49 million won, 3.09 million won and 3.99 million won for the same storage tiers.
