Sky Labs (386380.KQ) has been named to TIME magazine's list of the world's 500 best health tech companies for 2026. It is the only South Korean company selected in the medical device and wearables category.
TIME compiled the list with Statista, a global data firm, evaluating thousands of health tech companies worldwide before narrowing the field to 500, Sky Labs said on the 21st. The assessment weighed financial performance, reputation of the company and its solutions, and online engagement. Selected companies were sorted into six categories: artificial intelligence and data analytics, diagnostics, health information and management, medical devices and wearables, prevention, and telemedicine and treatment.
Sky Labs was chosen in the medical devices and wearables category. The company developed CART BP pro, a cuffless ring-type blood pressure monitor, commercializing technology that measures blood pressure over extended periods during daily activity and sleep. In South Korea, 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring using CART BP pro is covered by national health insurance and is used at hospitals and clinics nationwide.
CART BP pro was unveiled in 2023 and subsequently won medical device approval. In 2024, the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service recognized it for reimbursement under the existing medical procedure code for 24-hour continuous blood pressure monitoring. Last year, the company also launched CART BP, a ring-type blood pressure monitor for general consumers, which it sells through online channels.
Sky Labs is expanding its product lineup into wearable medical devices that measure a range of vital signs beyond blood pressure, including oxygen saturation and heart rate. It is also broadening its business into a medical data platform that uses AI to analyze vital-sign data accumulated over long periods for use in clinical care and research.
"It carries great significance that the competitiveness of wearable medical device technology developed in Korea has been recognized in the global market," said Lee Byung-hwan, CEO of Sky Labs. "Based on technology that can continuously produce and utilize vital-sign data, including blood pressure, we will expand into the global medical device and medical data markets."
