
Samsung Electronics' latest foldable smartphones, the Galaxy Z Fold8 and the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, earned top marks from consumer testing groups in Europe. The results follow favorable reviews in the United States, reaffirming the company's product competitiveness in the premium foldable market, analysts said.
The Galaxy Z8 series ranked at or near the top in recent foldable phone evaluations by Altroconsumo in Italy, OCU in Spain, Deco Proteste in Portugal, Consumentenbond in the Netherlands and Test Achats in Belgium, industry sources said on the 27th. These consumer organizations buy products directly rather than relying on manufacturer advertising or sponsorship, then test performance, durability and ease of use. They are regarded as leading reference points for consumers in Europe making purchase decisions.
In Italy, Spain and Portugal, the Galaxy Z Fold8 placed first with a score of 81, followed by the Z Fold8 Ultra at 80. In the Netherlands and Belgium, the two models tied for first place. In Italy, Spain, Portugal and Belgium, both models were named "Best of Test," a designation given to the highest-rated products in each evaluation.
Samsung's foldable phones had already drawn praise in the United States. The Z Fold8 Ultra ranked first in foldable phone testing by Consumer Reports, the U.S. consumer magazine, while the Z Fold8 and Z Flip8 also placed near the top. Consumer Reports evaluates products based on its own performance testing and surveys of actual buyers. It emphasizes real-world performance and reliability over manufacturers' claims and is known to carry considerable weight in U.S. consumers' purchase decisions.
