Samsung Electronics (005930.KS) on the 1st unveiled the Galaxy SmartTag3, a mobile device for locating belongings. Users attach the tag to items such as keys and bags, or to pets, and check their location from a smartphone.
The SmartTag3 tracks objects from up to 60 meters away, triple the range of the earlier SmartTag2. The improvement comes from a new Channel Sounding feature based on Bluetooth 6.0 that measures distance precisely. The feature works first on the latest Galaxy smartphones, including the Galaxy Z8 and Galaxy S26, with support for more devices to follow.
Within 20 meters of a smartphone, the tag uses ultra-wideband (UWB) technology for greater accuracy. Beyond the direct connection range, tracking continues through the Galaxy Find Network, a location service built on low-energy Bluetooth and UWB. An offline search function locates the tag through nearby Galaxy devices when the smartphone connection is lost entirely.
The device is also easier to carry than its predecessor. It weighs 9.15 grams, 33% lighter, and is 35% smaller in volume. The design features rounded corners and an aluminum-finished button. The battery lasts up to 550 days, or up to 790 days in power-saving mode. The tag carries an IP67 rating for water and dust resistance.
The tag also sends alerts when it enters or leaves a designated area, or when movement is detected. Users can review its travel route.
The SmartTag3 is priced at 44,000 won. It comes in two colors, white and black. A four-piece bundle of two white and two black tags sells for 149,600 won, a 15% discount. Through October 31, buyers of the Galaxy Z8, the Galaxy S26 series, the Galaxy S26 Fan Edition and the Galaxy Tab S12 series receive a 30% discount on the SmartTag3.
