Minami, the Japanese member of the girl group Rescene who has said her entire family belongs to Once, the fandom of the group Twice, met Sana in person.
The YouTube channel 11:11 posted an episode of "Sana's Cold Interview" titled "Minami's Dream★Comes True l EP.22 Rescene Minami" on the 3rd.
The video, pairing Minami — known as a leading "gyaru" figure — with her role model, Twice's Japanese member Sana, topped 1 million views in less than a day. It ran close to an hour, yet the high view count demonstrated the pull of the two performers.
Minami brought her mother and younger sibling from Japan to South Korea to watch the shoot. In the video, she said her household is a "Once family under one roof." Her father, who could not join them, is also a devoted fan and has attended a concert by Misamo, the Twice sub-unit made up of its Japanese members, on his own.
Minami pulled off the official Twice fan chants, including the notoriously difficult chant for "YES OR YES," and correctly identified the members by their faces, earning Sana's recognition as a "complete Once." She drew particular surprise by naming "Touch Down," a Twice album track released in 2016, when she was 10.
Having proved her devotion, Minami said shyly, "Anyone who wants to see her in person should absolutely not look — you could have a heart attack." She added, with a laugh, "You can just think of me as a creepy otaku."
The two, by then at ease with each other, also shared their worries. "There's a lot that doesn't work out even when you try hard. I want to do better and I can't, so it's frustrating," Minami said candidly. She then steadied herself, saying, "What I'm going through isn't a big deal, and I'm not the only one." Sana offered warm encouragement, telling her, "I think only people who think that way end up doing well."
Sana later drew laughs by shyly imitating Minami's catchphrase, "Yahoo."
