Minami, the Japanese member of the girl group Ricenne, has spoken about the stress she went through while dieting before her debut.
Minami appeared in a video titled "War Against Weight," posted on the 12th on the YouTube channel of fellow Ricenne member Wonyee.
When the production team asked her to reveal how much weight she had lost, Minami said, "Eighteen kilograms."
"Back then, every bit of stress in my life came through dieting. I cried every day," she said. She also recalled the shoot for the performance video of "Heart Drop," a track from Ricenne's third mini album released in 2025: "The outfit wouldn't even go past my hips. My manager and my stylist had to pull it up together."
Ricenne is a five-member girl group that debuted in March 2024. In the first half of this year, the group rose rapidly in popularity as gyaru-concept content featuring Wonyee and Minami on Wonyee's YouTube channel drew attention, along with a meme built around Minami's "Geoje yaho" catchphrase. Riding that momentum, "LOVE ATTACK," released in August 2024, climbed the charts again two years after its release.
