Actress Baek Jin-hee, who announced she will marry in January next year, has shared the love story behind her engagement to a partner outside the entertainment industry.
In a new video titled "A Message to All of You," released on the 8th on the YouTube channel "Genie Is Back," Baek disclosed news of her marriage.
"Many people have been curious about my future husband," she said. "We were in a long-distance relationship, going back and forth between Korea and Canada. I flew 14 hours to see him, and he flew 14 hours to see me. It honestly wasn't easy. We couldn't be together when we wanted to be, and we couldn't see each other when we wanted to."
Baek explained why she decided to marry: "Physical time and distance stood in our way, but when I went and spent time with him, I found myself becoming like a young girl again. I laughed at the smallest things. He is the person who showed me how precious and how much fun an ordinary day can be. As that built up, we naturally began talking about the future."

"This is how I see it, and my future husband's English name is Henry. I'm curious what Henry thinks. I'll ask him sometime," Baek said. "Henry is also a subscriber. He watches the videos when they go up and gives me feedback — one of those scary subscribers."
She added: "Since I started acting at 20, there haven't been many stable moments in my life. It's a job where emotional ups and downs are inevitable, and the work itself doesn't involve commuting on a steady schedule. He is someone who can meet me in the middle, whether my circumstances and mood are at a high point or I'm in the depths of sadness, and that gave me a great sense of stability. I think that's how I naturally came to decide on marriage." She continued: "Our values in how we look at life are also very similar. I think that's an important part of it, too."
