The head of a dermatology clinic in Seoul's Gangnam District has been arrested on charges of illegally administering propofol to patients.
Lee Ji-young, the senior judge in charge of warrants at the Seoul Central District Court, held a pre-detention questioning session on the morning of the 21st for a man in his 30s, identified only as A, who is accused of violating the Narcotics Control Act. The judge issued the warrant, citing "concerns that evidence could be destroyed."
A, who runs a dermatology clinic in the Nonhyeon neighborhood of Gangnam District, is accused of injecting patients with propofol beyond medical purposes such as anesthesia and sedation. A is reported to have administered the drug illegally about 360 times to more than 20 patients between January last year and August this year.
The Seoul Namdaemun Police Station searched A's clinic in June this year and seized related materials, then requested an arrest warrant for A on the 11th of this month.
