DAEGU — The city of Daegu will run the Fantasia Daegu Festa Autumn Festival, which bundles 10 major festivals under a single brand, for 20 days at venues across the city starting Oct. 2.
The festival, now in its ninth season, carries the slogan "Sound Spark," meant to convey how the sounds and energy of different festivals combine to create new vitality, the city said on the 28th.
This year's lineup includes the Daegu International Opera Festival, the World Orchestra Festival, the Daegu Folk Festival, the Daegu International Healing Performing Arts Festival and the Daegu Arts Festival.
Also taking part are the Daegu Living Culture Festival, the Daegu Contents Fair, the Kansong Art Museum Daegu special exhibition "Gyeomjae Jeong Seon," Dalseong 100 Pianos and the Dalseong Contemporary Art Festival.
The city extended the festival period to 20 days from 10 this year to give residents more time to take it in.
A range of discounts and events has been arranged for visitors.
The Kansong Art Museum and the Daegu Art Museum will offer 30% off admission during the festival, and the downtown loop of the Daegu City Tour will be discounted by 50%.
Discounts will also be available at major attractions including E-World, Spark Land, Daegu Aquarium and Nature Park, giving visitors a chance to enjoy more of what the city has to offer alongside the festival.
Events inviting direct participation are also plentiful.
They include the "Space Passport Stamp Tour," in which visitors verify their attendance by scanning QR codes installed at festival sites, and "Take Public Transit to Fantasia Daegu Festa," which rewards those who travel to venues by bus or subway. Various prizes will be offered.
"All of Daegu is being transformed into one giant stage and cultural space," said Hwang Bo-ran, director general of the city's Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau. "We hope you will enjoy a special autumn through the 20 days of Fantasia Daegu Festa."
