NAMYANGJU — The city of Namyangju in Gyeonggi Province has launched a sweeping review of the campaign pledges of its ninth popularly elected administration, aiming to strengthen implementation and complete a detailed roadmap.
The city said on the 2nd that it will hold strategy meetings on action plans for the pledges through the 14th of this month, with the goal of turning promises to residents into tangible results.
The sessions will run five times in total, starting that day and proceeding in sequence by bureau, division, team and office. Rather than following the previous format of one-way briefings, the meetings are designed as working-level, open-ended debates that tackle key issues and sticking points in search of remedies.
The city will take a closer look at the annual implementation targets each department has set for its pledges, the detailed roadmaps behind them and workable plans to secure funding. Officials plan to identify legal and financial constraints in advance to determine whether the proposed projects can be carried out on the ground without disruption, and to fill any gaps.
At the meeting, Namyangju Mayor Choi Hyun-duk said it was important to "refine the policy direction of the pledges into concrete, systematic action plans and push them forward with a sense of urgency." He added, "I ask every department to concentrate all of its administrative capacity so that our promises to residents can be delivered quickly and substantively."
Based on the outcome of the meetings, the city plans to fine-tune the action plans for each project, then finalize the pledge program for the ninth elected administration after review by a pledge implementation evaluation panel. The finalized pledges will be disclosed on the city's website, and the city will monitor progress on an ongoing basis to maximize effectiveness.
