
Yang Yun-seo, billed as the next star of Korean women's golf, moved into contention in the individual event at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.
Yang carded a 5-under 65 in the second round on the 1st at the East Course of Kasugai Country Club (par 70) in Aichi Prefecture, Japan, with seven birdies against two bogeys.
At 7-under 133 through two rounds, Yang is tied for third with Yin Ruoning of China, a six-time winner on the U.S. LPGA Tour. She trails leader Shannon Xuan Yin Tan of Singapore, who is at 13-under 127, by six shots, and second-place Pranavi Sharath Urs of India, at 11-under 129, by four.
Yang picked up three shots on the front nine with four birdies and one bogey. She dropped a stroke at the par-4 11th but surged with three straight birdies from the 13th through the 15th. Tied for seventh a day earlier, she climbed four places on the day.
Kim Gyu-bin, who shared seventh place with Yang after the first round, struggled. She dropped three shots on the day and fell to a tie for 16th at 1-over 141. Park Seo-jin also shot 3-over and sits in a tie for 21st at 4-over 144.
Korea's team standing, second after the opening day, slipped to a tie for fourth at 6-under 274. Team scores combine the two best rounds from each team per day. China leads at 12-under 264, followed by Singapore at 11-under 269 and India at 7-under 273.
