Kakao (035720.KS) will unveil an integrated membership program bundling its main services, including emoticons, Melon and TalkCloud, on Oct. 1.
Kakao said on the 22nd that it has opened a sign-up alert page ahead of the trial launch of "Kakao Membership." The program is Kakao's first integrated membership, linking a range of its services — emoticons, TalkCloud, Gift, Melon, Pay and securities — to offer new benefits.
Kakao will roll out Kakao Membership on Oct. 1 as a soft launch. The company plans to offer a variety of benefits, including welcome rewards for new subscribers and additional points on gift purchases. To stabilize the service in its early stage, Kakao will enroll a small number of users on a first-come, first-served basis before expanding eligibility in stages.
From the 21st, users who add the "Kakao Membership" Talk Channel as a friend can receive an alert when the soft launch begins. Kakao plans to send the alert message and a sign-up link through the channel on Oct. 1.
The Kakao Membership Talk Channel can be found on the sign-up alert page in the Kakao Now banner under the "More" tab in KakaoTalk. Users can also add it directly by searching for "Kakao Membership" in KakaoTalk's friend search.
Kim Min-kyu, a performance leader at Kakao, said: "Kakao Membership is significant in that it goes beyond simply bundling multiple benefits, allowing users to enjoy a more convenient and organic benefit experience within a single membership. We plan to offer reasonable benefits that can be experienced only through Kakao Membership."
