The Ministry of Intellectual Property said on the 22nd that it will hire 41 specialists through mid-career competitive recruitment to strengthen expertise in patent, utility model, trademark and design examinations and to shorten review waiting times. The hires include 27 patent and utility model examiners, 10 trademark and design examiners, and four special judicial police officers.
In the patent and utility model field, the ministry will recruit experts in advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, biotechnology and secondary batteries as Grade 6 general service examiners to expand examination capacity. For the special judicial police positions, it will select lawyers and people with investigative experience to sharpen investigative expertise and response capabilities in cases of technology leaks and trademark infringement. Applications will be accepted from the 28th of this month through Oct. 2.
The ministry said it will apply objective and fair evaluation standards throughout the hiring process, including document screening and interviews, in line with the State Public Officials Act, the Decree on the Appointment of Public Officials and other relevant laws, and will provide applicants with equal opportunity to compete.
"Through this recruitment, we will secure examination personnel with specialized expertise and deliver fast and accurate examination services," said Kim Yong-sun, head of the Ministry of Intellectual Property. "We will also do our utmost to strengthen the investigative expertise of our special judicial police, protect the valuable intellectual property of our companies and establish fair market order."
