NHN Data has strengthened the account protection features of its marketing solution SocialBiz as concerns over Instagram account restrictions spread.
The company said on the 7th that it has progressively upgraded the customer account protection system in SocialBiz, which runs on Meta's official application programming interface (API).
SocialBiz is an Instagram direct message (DM) automation marketing solution that NHN Data developed in cooperation with Meta. The company recently expanded its protection features to cover a range of situations that can arise while operating an account, including controls on DM volume, improvements to message delivery policy, controls on automated comment replies, and checks on whether posts have been restricted.
The move follows growing concern among users about how normal use of DM automation features could affect their accounts, after recent cases of content restrictions and account blocks on Instagram.
NHN Data concluded that a DM automation service must do more than simply send messages automatically — it must also quickly identify and respond to changes in Meta's policies. The company has therefore continuously monitored Meta's operating policies and improved related features.
First, it introduced a DM sending limit function. Even when user responses pour in within a short period, such as during an event or on a popular post, the tool spreads out comment replies and DMs according to the hourly volume the user has set, helping keep the account stable.
The company also revised its message delivery policy. Taking into account the possibility that delivery may be restricted if a first DM contains promotional content, it adopted as a rule the sending of a "default message" that prompts the user to request the information they need first. A new "insert username" feature has been added to default messages so that personalized messages can be sent to each recipient.
Safeguards were also built into the automated comment reply feature. The step prepares for the possibility that replies following the same pattern, posted one after another as responses to a post surge, could be judged abnormal activity. When SocialBiz detects such a situation in advance, it temporarily suspends automated comment replies, while scheduled DMs are still sent normally during the suspension. The automated reply function returns to normal after a set period.
The company also added a feature that lets users check posts or Reels whose access has been restricted on Instagram from the SocialBiz administrator page. If comment replies or DMs suddenly fail to go out normally, an administrator can easily check whether the content has been restricted.
NHN Data said it plans to keep upgrading related features in line with changes in Meta's Instagram operating policies. The focus will be on helping customers ease the burden of account restrictions and operate their accounts stably over the long term.
"SocialBiz will continue to strengthen its technological capabilities and evolve in step with changes in Meta's operating policies," NHN Data CEO Lee Jin-soo said. "We will do our best to protect customer accounts stably so that brands and influencers can focus on marketing and content creation."
