Lexus Korea has begun taking preorders for the eighth-generation full redesign of its flagship premium sedan, the All New ES, which goes on sale in South Korea next month.
Lexus Korea started accepting preorders at official Lexus dealer showrooms on the 14th of this month. The All New ES, which officially launches in Korea on Oct. 13, comes in nine variants: four hybrid (HEV) trims and five battery electric (BEV) trims, the first all-electric versions in the ES lineup.
The BEV trims, introduced for the first time, consist of the front-wheel-drive ES 350e and the all-wheel-drive ES 500e. The ES 350e offers a combined driving range of 478 kilometers on a single charge at room temperature. The ES 500e is equipped with Direct4, an all-wheel-drive system that precisely controls torque distribution between the front and rear wheels for stable driving performance.
The ES 350h hybrid model uses a sixth-generation hybrid system. Redesigning the power control unit and transaxle made the components smaller and lighter. Lexus also added an all-wheel-drive version to the ES hybrid lineup, widening the range of choices for different driving conditions and customer lifestyles.
The All New ES is built on a newly designed GA-K platform. Greater body rigidity at the front, floor and rear reduces vibration while delivering intuitive steering response and smooth acceleration and deceleration. A multi-link rear suspension provides a comfortable and stable ride.
A larger body and longer wheelbase have expanded interior space compared with the previous model. The cabin features a 14-inch display, Responsive Hidden Switches that appear only when needed and Multi Ambient Lighting that can create a range of moods, strengthening both intuitive digital usability and the quality of the driving experience.
On the technology side, the car comes with the latest Lexus Safety System+ and Lexus Connect, which provides 24-hour emergency calling and remote control functions, improving both safety and convenience.
Pricing is also competitive. Lexus Korea set the price of the front-wheel-drive ES 350e Premium starting at 71.6 million won. By pricing the first all-electric All New ES lowest among all trims, the company aims to take the lead in the market. It is also introducing Amazing Switch, an installment program that guarantees residual value to help make purchases more affordable. Hybrid prices start at 72.9 million won for the ES 350h Premium.
