BUSAN — Participants in a stay-type workcation program that combines work and leisure against the backdrop of Songdo Beach in Busan's Seo-gu District will receive substantial lodging subsidies.
Seo-gu District has been selected for the Korea Tourism Organization's "2026 Second-Half Travel Month" campaign, and the Hue & Work Seo-gu Workcation program operated by the Busan Center for Creative Economy and Innovation will take part as a partner organization, the center said on the 22nd. Under the arrangement, participants who stay four or more nights over the two months beginning in October will receive 60,000 won per night, up to a maximum of 300,000 won.
Eligibility remains the same as the program's existing criteria, covering employees of Busan-based companies outside Seo-gu District as well as university students. Applications may close early if the budget is exhausted. Applications are accepted through the official Hue & Work Seo-gu Workcation platform.
With events such as a mackerel festival and a medical tourism festival scheduled for October, participants are expected to boost their work productivity while also enjoying autumn festivals and marine tourism.
Travel Month is a nationwide campaign the Korea Tourism Organization runs with local governments and the tourism industry to encourage domestic travel and revitalize regional economies. Through the partnership, the Hue & Work Seo-gu Workcation program was recognized as a distinctive "work-and-play travel" offering and was included among the campaign's travel discount programs.
"This campaign will offer more than sightseeing — it will be a chance to work and find inspiration with the Songdo sea as a backdrop," said Jung Yu-jin, a manager on the local startup team at the Busan Center for Creative Economy and Innovation. "We will provide tangible benefits to those visiting Seo-gu District during the busy autumn season and contribute to revitalizing the local economy through stay-type tourism."
