BUSAN — Youngsan University has extended condolences and relief support to the people of Nepal and to Nepali students on its campus following recent large-scale flooding.
The university's International Student Support Center held a memorial ceremony and a donation drive at the Haeundae campus on the 21st to honor those killed in the Nepal floods and to help rebuild the affected areas, the university said on the 22nd.
Faculty members and students observed a moment of silence, praying for the repose of the victims and a swift recovery in the stricken region.
The ceremony was organized to console Nepali students grieving the disaster and to convey that the university community stands together across nationalities.
Alongside the memorial, the university collected donations through a designated account to provide practical relief to affected residents.
"Nepal is a valued neighbor to members of our university and the homeland of their families," said Ban Hyun-jung, head of the International Student Support Center. "We hope the donations gathered with sincerity, along with our remembrance of the victims, will bring some comfort and strength to bereaved families and residents of the affected areas."
The university said it will continue to promote the values of respect and consideration among its members beyond nationality and culture, and to fulfill its social responsibility by standing with global neighbors facing disasters.
