SK Shieldus said on the 2nd that it has earned Amazon Web Services' Threat Detection and Response (TDR) competency, a security credential awarded by the cloud provider.
TDR certification is granted to AWS partners that demonstrate the technical capability and expertise to detect, analyze and respond to security threats arising in cloud environments. As companies move more workloads to the cloud, the range of assets requiring protection — servers, networks, containers and databases — has widened, while threats such as account takeovers, privilege misuse and data leaks have grown more varied, raising the importance of such capabilities.
The AWS security competency program reviews the expertise and customer track record of AWS partners that provide security solutions and services within AWS environments. The TDR competency covers threat detection and response areas including security operations center (SOC) management, security information and event management (SIEM), security orchestration, automation and response (SOAR), extended detection and response (XDR), endpoint detection and response (EDR), and network detection and response (NDR).
SK Shieldus received the TDR competency after being assessed on its technical capability to detect and respond to threats in AWS cloud environments, along with its operational capacity and service delivery. As of September this year, 54 companies worldwide hold the certification, and SK Shieldus is the first Korean company to do so.
During the review, SK Shieldus presented cases in which it built threat detection and response systems for clients using AWS security services such as Amazon GuardDuty, AWS WAF, Network Firewall and Shield Advanced. The company also operates a service that analyzes and responds to security events occurring in AWS environments, drawing on its own threat intelligence and security monitoring capabilities.

With these capabilities now certified, SK Shieldus says its threat detection and response service can provide an effective security environment for companies running AWS-based services or pursuing cloud migration. It is particularly suited to businesses building new services on AWS, including e-commerce platforms, manufacturers and startups.
SK Shieldus operates a cloud security monitoring service that links AWS security services with Secudium, its own artificial intelligence-based cybersecurity monitoring platform. It also offers consulting across cloud security, covering regulatory compliance, perimeter security, DevSecOps and data security. Through AWS-certified specialists and its incident response unit, Top-CERT, the company supports clients from breach prevention through response and recovery.
SK Shieldus plans to advance its cloud security services by applying its own AI technology to Amazon GuardDuty, AWS's threat detection service. It will build a system linking threat detection, analysis, prioritization and automated response, and expand the industries it serves.
"This competency is an achievement that once again validates SK Shieldus' expertise spanning security monitoring and threat detection and response in AWS cloud environments," said Choi Jae-ho, head of SK Shieldus' Cyber Technology Center. "Based on close cooperation with AWS, we will support our clients' digital transformation and continue to expand cybersecurity services that can respond preemptively to increasingly sophisticated cyber threats."
